How do I become a propane customer?

Each new customer is required to complete a service application.   We require payment in advance for the first year’s tank rental and first fill up of propane.  When we set a tank we will do a pressure test on your system to ensure the piping system is safe before we allow the gas to be turned on for use.
You are welcome to download our residential application and safety brochure if you’d like to have it all filled out before you visit our office.
We look forward to serving your propane needs.

How does your Automatic Delivery work?

When you sign up for our Automatic Delivery, you don’t have to worry about running out of fuel. We do all the work for you. You just let us know how many people are usually in your house and what appliances you are using. We will set you up on a schedule so that you always have an ample supply. This will mean the gauge on your tank will typically read between 20 and 30% when we stop by to fill you up. With a 100-gallon tank, you can expect your deliveries to be about 70 gallons each time.

If you use propane for heating, you can expect to see us delivering to you much more frequently in the winter than we will in the summer. We track the temperatures each day so that we can accurately project your propane consumption.

When we make your delivery, you will receive notification the next day by text, email or a mailed ticket.
If you are on EFT, this amount will be debited from your account within seven days. If you are on credit card autopay – you can expect this amount to be charged to your credit/debit card within the next ten days.

If you have lots of company, or add an appliance, or experience a hot water leak, please be sure to let us know so that we can adjust your delivery schedule accordingly.

What size tank do I need?

We rent many sizes of cylinders/tanks. Our staff will determine the best tank size for your location (based on your usage, property size, and accessibility). Sizes include a 50 gallon (used for cooking only), 100 gallon (hot water, clothes drying, cooking), 250-500 gallon sizes (when you add heat). And 1000 gallon tanks are also available for commercial uses.
The 250 gallon and larger sizes require a minimum setback of 10′ from buildings, property lines & streets. If you do not have room on the property for this distance, it is often possible to manifold several of the 100 gallon size tanks together, directly adjacent to the building to create similar capacity. All tanks need to be 10′ away from any source of ignition or electric meter, as well as air intakes for direct vent appliances.

We rent the above sizes on an annual basis. Arrowhead LP Gas is responsible for the maintenance of the tank. You only need to keep the area around the tank clear of brush and maintain a clear path for our driver to access the tank for deliveries and occasional tank maintenance.

We can also sell the sizes that we rent. We realize some of you would prefer to own, rather than rent. You would then be responsible for any maintenance or upkeep on the tank.

In addition, most of our offices stock a wide range of smaller cylinders for sale. They range in size from 1 gallon on up to 23.5 gallons. Many of the smaller sizes are available in aluminum as well as the standard steel.  We also offer a composite cylinder in the 2.5 and 4.5 gallon sizes – this cylinder offers see-through material so you can see your fuel level.  It also is lighter weight than the steel, and doesn’t rust.  Ask us if you don’t see them on our retail floor.

Call, email, or stop by your local Arrowhead LP Gas for current tank rental rates and cylinder prices/availability.

Do you perform installations and gas appliance service?

We have licensed gas technicians in Juneau andKetchikan  that will be happy to work on any of your gas appliances, as long as we are your propane supplier. We are unable to work on propane systems that are being fueled by a different gas company. In Sitka, Wrangell, Petersburg, Craig and Kake, you can contact your local Arrowhead LP Gas office for assistance in getting repairs made to your gas appliance.

Can you deliver to me once a month so that my bills are smaller?

We have the perfect plan for you – it’s called a budget payment plan. It works like this – we estimate your fuel usage and costs for the next 12 months, then divide it into 12 equal payments. So you make the same payment every month. If you’re interested, we can work up the plan for your account and have you sign the agreement. It’s important to understand, though, that you would be responsible for a payment every month, even when you did not get a delivery. This allows us to make the larger, more efficient deliveries which keeps our costs, and thus your price of propane, as low as possible.

You will be issued a statement every month that shows your true activity balance with all delivery costs and payments applied, so you see how your budgeted amount is covering the expenses.
